Highlights from the 2010 Playboy Art Auction

The 2010 Playboy Art Auction

Playboy and Christie’s are coming together in Chicago on December 8 to auction off more than 125 works from the corporate collection of Playboy Enterprises.

Hefner is also reportedly looking to sell the Playboy Mansion, with mounting debts and buyout bids threatening the company's future. The sale of Playboy art is speculated to be part of Hefner's need to raise cash. A few art are:

Cindy Crawford, ‘Skinsuits’
Estimated value: $10,000-15,000
Photographer: Herb Ritts
Five gelatin silver prints, July 1988

At the age of 20, supermodel Cindy Crawford’s career was already in high gear, and in 1988 she posed twice for Playboy, and this image is from the first shoot. Crawford was also ranked at #5 on Playboy’s “100 Sexiest Stars of the 20th century”

Pamela Anderson and Dan Ackroyd
Estimated value: $5,000-7,000
Photographer: Stephen Wayda
2 chromogenic prints, February 1993

“The Coneheads” movie came out in 1993, the same year actor Dan Ackroyd posed with Pamela Anderson on the cover of Playboy’s August issue. Although an image of the two was featured on the August 1993 cover, this particular one shown here was not the print used.
