Arkansas coach John Pelphrey in hot water over photo

Arkansas men’s basketball coach John Pelphrey committed an NCAA violation when he had off-campus contact with two players from the Class of 2012, according to a report and photograph obtained by

Pelphrey, in the photo which can be seen here, poses for a shot with Sylvan Hill High's Archie Goodwin and teammate Trey Smith. The shot was reportedly taken during a high school tournament in Conway, Ark., last December.

Rivals rates Goodwin as the No. 3 shooting guard in the class of 2012 and the No. 18 player nationally. The Razorbacks are among the teams he is interested in, and one that he has an offer from, at this point.

According to the report, Smith's mother took the picture.

"My mom was like, 'Hey, go get a picture,'" Smith said. "So we snapped a picture."

Arkansas is 18-12 overall, 7-9 in the SEC and faces off against Tennessee on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The timing of the matchup and the revelation about the photo is interesting given the photograph of Vols coach Bruce Pearl and then-recruit Aaron Craft that landed Tennessee in hot water with the NCAA and the SEC. Pearl was forced to sit the first eight games of the SEC season and he had to face pay cuts and recruiting restrictions along with the rest of his staff
